The return of vandalism and graffiti in
the villages of Leigh and Brockham is once again raising
the issues of anti social behaviour.

these acts of vandalism or when these incidents took place

Criminal increase
A vehicle is Nutwood Close, Brockham
was damaged between 22nd December 2004 and 23rd December
2004.
A house in The Borough in Brockham was
the subject of criminal damage on 24 December. It's believed
that the
damage was
possibly caused by a pellet.
There has also been a bizarre incident
of criminal damage in The Walled Garden area of Betchworth
where shoes
laces on shoes left outside premises have been cut.

There
has also been a spate of criminal damages in Leigh and
Charlwood areas. Anyone with information
on this is asked to call PC Vaccaro.
Burglaries rise
The first two months of last year saw
a rise in the amount of dwelling burglaries most of which
involved
windows
and doors being forced and or glass being smashed.
Please ensure
all properties are left secured and valuables left
out of sight. Security devices can be installed to provide
a deterrent.
There was a burglary in Pointers Hill,
Westcott just recently. Anyone wishing advice on security

Attacks on cats
There have
been some rather disturbing attacks on cats in the Borough
area of Brockham over the
past
few months
in which they have been covered with detergent
like substances causing trauma and discomfort.

as to who is doing this is asked to call PC Wells

Police successfully stopped a
Rave near Abinger recently.
Don't drink and drive
The police campaign
on Drink Drive has started, with various places being
targeted this year,
in a bid
to cut down the
amount of drink related incidents on roads.
Cold callers target personal information
There have been several cold calling
incidences to people over the telephone in the area
just recently. You are
reminded not to divulge any personal
information to the callers
or answer any questions.
Distraction
burglary offence in Caterham area.
Two offenders called at the home of an
elderely victim an said they were neighbourhood watch officers.
They barged their
way into the home
talking very
quickly all the time; stating that the victim had been
burgled and they needed to check the house.
Once upstairs they
asked
the victim to check her money. Once they have seen where
it was they ushered her out of the room. One of the males
stole bank cards and a tin with money.
They then
left.
The first offender was described as male,
thickset, did most of the talking, no particular accent,
aged approximately
30
to 40
years,
fair haired, approximately 5ft 8", light shirt, light
trousers.
The second male was smaller than the first
and slimmer possibly younger, dark hair.
Two men had called
at the address a few days before Christmas stating they
were from neighbourhood watch but had been
refused entry. Similar descriptions.
Dogs
out of control
There has been an increase of offences
involving dogs biting other people or worrying livestock.
It is the
owner/ person in charge of the dog/s to ensure that they
are not given the opportunity to carry out such acts.
Poachers caught
This week
officers apprehended poachers in the area. Thank you to
everyone whose vigilance and continued
liaison with
police, paid off in this particular instance.
Thefts from outbuildings
A blue transit van
index M667MUY has been seen in the general areas of Dorking
and surround
and may be linked to thefts
from insecure/secure outbuildings. If you see this van,
please do give us a call either on the non emergency number

125 2222 or 999 if it is an emergency, with any information
you have.
