Dorking Rural Neighbourhood Watch

Bogus Caller returns
An unknown female knocked on a premises in Chichester Road, Dorking on 7th September at 12.45 and asked its resident for a lift or some money to Epsom hospital to see her mother as she lives with Sandra at number 11 and has locked her door and car keys in the house. The resident knew there was no No 11 in the street and there was no car parked nearby. The occupant declined to help.

The woman called at another residential dwelling and asked the occupant the same. The occupant declined to help. She then left in the direction of Calvert Road.

The woman was described as white, 30-50 years, slim build, with long blond dyed hair, 4 capped teeth, dirty chipped finger and toe nails and dirty feet with bright red lipstick wearing a black velour wooly hat, a black suit jacket, black trousers, mule shoes carrying a handbag.

One of the residents stated they believed this had happened to another resident in the road this year who gave the female £5.

This possibly links to a female seen in the same circumstances in the Dorking area about 5 months ago.

Please call police immediately if this woman calls on you.

Indecent Exposure

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man indecently exposed himself to a woman in Brockham on Tuesday 17 August.

The woman, who is in her thirties, was jogging along the footpath that runs alongside Middle Street just after 7pm. She saw a man with his back to her who she initially thought was urinating but when he turned around as she got closer he was indecently exposed and inappropriately touching himself.

The victim crossed the road and saw the suspect get into a bright blue sports hatchback which could have been a Volkswagen Golf. He drove off in a southerly direction towards Strood Green and was seen overtaking vehicles as he did so.

The man was described as being white, in his mid 20s, between 5’8” and 5’10” tall, of an average build, with short cropped dark brown hair and was clean shaven. He was wearing a baggy dark blue v-necked T-shirt and blue Jeans.

Investigating officer PC Scholey can be contacted on 0845 125 22 22

More anti-social behaviour

Over the past few nights (wk beginning August 16th) at around 1.00 am, Hillside Gardens residents have been subjected to youths throwing things at their property, including plastic bottles full of urine.

This is yet another gross act of anti-social behaviour in Brockham. Surrey Police are fully aware and will be patrolling regulary in the area to catch those responsible. Those caught may be subject to arrest and parents/guardians will be visited.

Residents are requested to call police immediately if there is a continuance of this behaviour at the time of it happening.

Anyone with information as to who these youths are, is requested to call Acting Police Sergeant Lisa Wells on 07967 988208.

Thefts in Castle Gardens

We have received reports of thefts from the Castle Gardens area, Betchworth, near the A25. This is a secluded area and possibly being frequented by youths down by the riverside. Please report any suspicious activity in this area to us on 01306 676351.

Thefts from motor vehicles in Mole Valley

Theft from motor vehicles are still continuing in the beauty spot car park areas in Mole Valley. People are reminded not to leave belongings in their vehicles and not to hide them as often the offenders will be watching where you do hide things within the vehicle.

Please report any sightings of a white Cavalier registration number F996HMX to police on 0845 125 2222.

Horse tack thefts yet again

There have been a number of horse tack thefts in the area. People with stables are advised to be extra vigilant and to report anyone seen acting suspiciously.

Graffiti suspect arrested

A suspect was arrested in connection with Graffiti offences in the Brockham area but there was insufficient evidence in which to bring a charge.

Anyone with any information on any Graffiti is asked to contact us on 01306 676351. Your call could lead to a reward if a suspect is arrested and cautioned/charged.

Secure windows and doors against burglary

During the hot weather people are leaving windows and doors open. People have already been subject to burglaries having left windows and doors insecure both during the day and in the evening when they retire to bed. People are therefore reminded to secure doors and windows as there is a high risk of such burglaries taking place.

Theft of garden tools and building materials

Please could you also ensure that any outbuildings and sheds are kept secured. This advice follows a number of thefts of tools and building materials that have occurred of late in the area. The amount of thefts of garden machinery and tools also rises during this period.

Be vigilant at Cash machines

People are reminded to be vigilant whilst at cash point machines after another attempt was made to steal someone’s card from a cash point in Leatherhead last week.

A device is placed in the card slot which then takes the card. People normally then walk away thinking the machine has swallowed the card. The offenders then take the device out with the card.

Any sighting of a slivery gold Volkswagen Golf, index F936RPJ should be reported to us on 0845 125 2222 or your local beat officer.

Any sighting of a white vauxhall cavalier F996HMX should also be reported to us on the above number also please.

Thank you.

Lisa Wells

Acting NSO Sergeant 2411
