I'm
sure you are aware that were saplings were snapped off at
the Old Orchard grounds, near to the Bowls Club a couple
of months back.
A garage in Dodds Park was then graffitied.
Since then, there has been graffiti damage
to two cars in Glenfield Road with a swastika type "tag" in
red paint. Someone also wrote on the road at the junction
of
Oakdene road and Middle Street, but I can not repeat was
put there due to the foul nature of it.
Then the children’s
play area near to the Cricket club was scrawled with red
graffiti, again foul language was used and bottles broken
causing a hazard to children and guardians.
In response, the following
action has been taken:-
I instigated pub licence checks
to take place in the village pubs for underage drinkers,
which have been and will continue
to be done.
After peoples houses
were targeted with bottle throwing during one weekend and windows
smashed, I wrote to the local pubs and the Rugby Club
asking them to not allow people to
take bottles away from the premises.
Extra patrols of the
area were also instigated by myself and will continue
to be, on a localised basis.
Youths have been spoken to both
by me and other colleagues in relation to Graffiti.
A party
down by the river near the Bowls Club was broken up by
police and persons made to clear up after themselves
by police.
There is a new scheme running in which
persons supplying names of the offenders could receive £100
worth of mobile phone credit. Persons with information on
offenders
can call anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or
myself on 01306 676351 or Mole Valley Council Graffiti Hotline
on 01306 879190
Thank you.
