Dorking Rural Neighbourhood Watch

Thefts from cars in pub car parks

There has been an increase in the number of thefts from motor vehicles whilst parked in pub car parks. People are urged not leave valuables in their vehicles generally, wherever they are. Again, hiding belongings does not stop the problem as thieves are normally watching in any case.

Attempted dog snatching

There have been reports of attempted dog snatchings in the London and Banstead areas. A vehicle was seen and is described as a white Ford Transit van index S62LLK. Please report any sightings to us.

Criminal damage at Old Orchard

Brockham bowls green area by the river was subject of criminal damage whereby newly planted trees were snapped and small bonfires started. If any one has any information on who may be responsible please call PC Wells on 01306 676351. For more information..

Quad bike thefts

Quad bikes are being stolen in the area and again we advise people to be extra vigilant. If you require any assistance on security matters, please contact PC Bessent on 01306 676823.

Home Security

As the summer months approach we would like to remind you of home security, even whilst in the house. There were a number of thefts from houses whilst people were inside them during these months last year. This was mainly due to doors being left open and opportunist thieves entering to steal belongings.

Please could you also ensure that any outbuildings and sheds are kept secured. This advice follows a number of thefts of tools and building materials that have occurred of late in the area. The amount of thefts of garden machinery and tools also rises during this period.

Congestion at Brockham School

There has been marked improvement to the situation outside Brockham School and I thank you for your co-operation. However there are still those who do not/will not comply with my request. It should always be borne in mind that the safety of all is paramount at all times please.

Blonde woman calls at homes

We have received several reports of a blonde haired female knocking on doors in the area asking for money to get home or has locked herself out and needs money to get to Epsom and such like.

This is a ploy to get people to give her money and anyone who is approached by this female is asked not to give her money and report it to police on 0845 125 2222 straight away please.

She knocks on peoples doors usually in the evenings but it can and has occurred at any time.
