Keep Clear of 'Keep Clear' signs

A number of complaints have been received with reference to parking on “Keep clear” markings and general lack of consideration to other road users and pedestrians alike.

Many “near misses” outside the school when arriving and leaving have been reported. Please adhere to the 'Keep Clear' markings as they are in place to protect people.

It is also an offence to park on the pavement and persons could receive a £30

Thefts of diesel from Roothill Lane

There have been two thefts of agricultural diesel from a farm on Roothill Lane, Betchworth. The offender was seen acting suspiciously in the area days before the theft. The car is described as a Blue estate with similar registration number of G461XAR. Again, please report any sightings of this vehicle to us on the numbers below.

Distraction burglaries still a concern

There have been several distraction burglaries in the Mole Valley area. Again, the elderly are targeted. People pose to be from companies such as the water board or gas board and try to gain access to steal property.

People are advised not to open the door to anyone and to make enquiries to establish if the person calling is genuine by calling the company that the people purport to be from. Identification should be requested and checked thoroughly. Stickers can be obtained from your local beat officer that can be placed on the front door to alert people that you do not buy or sell or want callers at the door. If you require one of these stickers please call your local beat officer.
