The
society held a most enjoyable “Ask the expert” evening
following the Annual General Meeting, with members posing questions
to the panel on various horticultural problems.
We are making plans
for 2005, and in addition to the Annual Show, we will be holding
regular meetings, from February, in the Recreation
Ground Hall, with speakers and demonstrations, so please look out
for posters and the Newsletter giving details of dates and events.
We
wish you all a Happy New Year, and look forward to seeing as
many members as possible at the meetings and other events.

August 2004
A
splendid array of exhibits was displayed at the Annual Show held
with FOBS Summer Fair on Saturday 26th June, with particularly
colourful entries from the children. The judges commented on the
high standard throughout the show, particularly as the weather
during the week before had been less than kind.
Thank you to everyone
who helped to make the day so successful.
We
are now looking forward to our visit to Knights Garden Centre,
which promises to be an entertaining evening.
Our next event will
be Teas on the Green in October, and we will be pleased to hear
from anyone who is able to donate a cake or help
on the day.

Flower
Show
The
Society held a very bright and well supported Flower Show in conjunction
with the FOBS Summer fete on the Green. It was especially good
to see so many entries of high quality from the juniors and from
several new members. We look forward to being able to hold a similar
event next year.
Since then, we have had three evening visits
to members' gardens with a delightful variety of style and planting,
and have returned to our own gardens full of ideas and inspiration.
The Society would like to thank Mrs Brown, Mr and Mrs Maud, and
Mr and Mrs Wilson for their kind invitation and hospitality.
Our next event will be Teas on the Green in October
and any offers of cakes or help will be gratefully received!
